Thank you for visiting the Sion Storm Cheer webpage! Our team works hard as students, athletes and school ambassadors to always do their best and support their school.  Many of our team members are active leaders not only in cheer, but also in other school organizations and community groups!  You can see our talented ladies cheering on their peers at sporting events or on the competition floor! Whatever we are doing, we are proud to be from Sion, home of the Purple and White! Thanks for visiting.

Our purpose as Storm Cheerleaders is to promote and uphold team spirit for all those we encounter, to develop good sportsmanship by example, to support good relations in the community and between teams and squads during events and to be good representatives of Notre Dame de Sion and the school mission!

Cheerleading is a year-round activity which requires commitment, self-discipline, strength, and coordination.  Any student enrolled at Sion High School may tryout.  A background in gymnastics and dance is helpful, but not required.  A grade point average of 2.5 or above and teacher recommendations are required to tryout for Cheerleading. A grade point average of 2.5 must be maintained to remain on the squad.  Squad members are required to attend all practices and must attend summer camp.

Head Coach, Lisa Lauck

Hello, My name is Lisa Lauck and I am excited to be the entering my 4th season as head coach for the Storm Cheerleaders! This fall will be my 13th year as a cheerleading coach and I have loved every minute of it! I’ve had a passion for cheer for over 20 years. I was a four-year high school cheerleader and four-year collegiate co-ed cheerleader at William Jewell College! I am a member of the Missouri Cheer Coaches Association and served two terms as a member of the Competition Committee, as well. I am proud to say that my teams have been recognized on a regional, state and national level competitively, as well as being known as caring and compassionate individuals devoted to helping their school and community. I have an extensive background in choreography and stunt technique and am so excited to help the Storm Cheerleaders achieve all of their goals! This year I am beyond excited to be joined by our new assistant coach, Vicki Bush!  I believe that cheerleading is an opportunity to build friendships and learn valuable skills and character that lasts for a lifetime! I look forward to serving our sion cheer students and families for another great year.

Assistant Coach, Vicki Bush

Coach Bush is excited to join the cheer family as the new assistant cheerleading coach!  As a 13 year veteran of coaching cheerleading, Coach Bush brings a wealth of knowledge for the sport and years of wonderful experience.  Coach Bush was a high school cheerleader and has always had a love for the sport.  She spent 13 years as the head cheerleading coach at Kearney High School in Kearney, Missouri, and coached her cheer teams to numerous titles at the local, regional and state level.  Fun fact, her daughter, head Sion cheer coach, Lisa Lauck, was her assistant coach for four years as she learned how to lead a team under her tutelage. Coach Bush retired from head coaching in 2012 and last year officially retired from the Kearney School District in order to take on her new role as a grandmother! She has already been part of the Sion cheer family the past three years as a competition chaperone and is excited to again be part of a coaching team with her daughter.  Coach Bush looks forward to helping the squad grow and bond as team, master new skills, build character, and serve each other, the school and the community as ambassadors of cheerleading, spirit and Sion!  Welcome to our new assistant coach, Vicki Bush!

Squad members are required to provide a $40.00 participation fee and are responsible for uniform and camp wear costs as well as summer camp fees.

The squad is off to a great start this year on the competition mat! The team placed 3rd at Regionals in July and 6th at the State Competition in Columbia, Missouri in November.  They are working hard and preparing for the 2nd trip to the National Cheerleading Championships in Dallas, Texas this January, 2017!
